Sometimes being blessed with amazing natural color can also be a curse. It seems like everyone will tell you something like: "Omg, I love your hair, don't ever color it!" Or they'll guilt you with something like: "My hair color is so ugly, you're SO lucky you never have to color yours."
So what do you do with your hair when you already have impossibly perfect natural color, but need a little spice? Simple! Opt for a purple to lavender ombre shadow! I love when someone comes in with Pinterest pictures, especially ones like this:
My heart skips a beat and I can't wait to jump to my color bar to start mixing! Don't get me wrong, I love my bright blondes and deep brunettes, but mixing it up with completely unnatural hues is what makes my world go round.
In this case, we made our own variation. In the inspiration picture, the model's chalky powdery lavender hue can be attributed to a bit of fading. The problem with starting with this shade is that you will only be able to enjoy it for about a week. So in the case of my client, we started with a more vibrant hue of violet at the roots that gradually faded to a lighter lavender and to ends. The benefits of using a brighter color to start with are 1) it is crazy fun; and 2) you'll love it even more as it fades to a pastel.
